yuletide 2020!
Hello! I love Yuletide and am thrilled that another year is here again! I'm so excited about being matched on one of the three canons below - I honestly really love all of them, and can't wait to see what winds up in my inbox come Yuletide morning. :) I know one of my fandom sections is longer than the others, but I just had more pairings that I'm interested in for that one. I definitely want all three equally!
Feel free to take the things I've written below and see where they take you! I want you to have fun writing for me, too, after all. Just please don't include my Do Not Wants, and it's all going to be golden. Also, my Tumblr is right here, in case it's helpful - though honestly I'm terrible at keeping up with it, so it may not be!
Also, I'm a rambler, clearly. I tried really hard to keep this concise and bearable, but I just get excited. Sorry in advance for all the text!
Likes & Dislikes
When it comes to types of fic I like, I tend to enjoy canon-set stories; AUs and crossovers aren't usually for me. I enjoy angst, fluff, humour, romance, and smut fic - whatever you're comfortable writing - and any rating, from G to E, is cool too. I also greatly prefer third-person POV! And I love the holidays, so if you want to set your fic with the backdrop of Christmas, go for it!
As for tropes, I'm super into best friends to lovers. I also love "woke up married", secretly dating, fake dating, unrequited love, soulbonding, road trips, codependence, and end of the world. So if my prompts below don't do much for you, you can run with one of these tropes! If you're interested in writing smut with any kinks, I like daddy kink, frottage, watersports/omaroshi, pregnancy kink, cock worship, spanking, handcuffs, roleplaying, phone sex, and dirty talk. Both kink and smut are definitely not required, though! If they're not for you, then just run with the fandom prompts down below. Just trying to give you lots of options!
I do have a few Do Not Wants: bloodplay, character bashing, crack fic, issue fic (ie something preachy), mpreg, non-canon character death, rape/non-con, and scat.

Julie and the Phantoms (TV)
Luke Patterson - I had so much fun watching this show, and really liked all the characters and their dynamics. Luke was probably the most interesting one to me though, so I would love more about him! I love that he's sincere while still trying to be cool, and the way his drive and passion for music guides all of his choices. I would love whatever Luke-centric fic you'd like to write! More ghost band shenanigans? Shipping him with Julie, Reggie, or Alex? Something darker with Caleb desiring more from him than just playing in his band? All sound good to me and I'd like to read it all!
Okay, this show has no business being as adorable as it is! I devoured it in two days, and really loved everything about it - the characters, the music, the dynamics between everyone, the ghost club... all of it. I liked all of the characters, and had a terrible time narrowing down this request. But ultimately, the one that stuck with me the most is Luke. I loved the look into his backstory with his family and the way he struggled with his parents before he died - I think that really helped inform the ghost!Luke we get to see in the present. I love his drive for the music and his conviction that if they only keep working at it, they'll succeed. I really liked his dynamic with all the different characters, especially Julie, Alex, Reggie, and Caleb. And honestly, just the fact that Luke is cool but is still genuine and kind and sincere is really appealing to me!
So please, write me more about Luke! You can include just about anyone in fic with him and I'd be thrilled - I'm not picky! I'd love something shippy if you're up for it, but friendship fic is good too. I ship Luke/Julie, Luke/Reggie, Luke/Alex, and Caleb/Luke! Feel free to incorporate any of the other characters in his fandom, too! Note: Please keep the guys as ghosts if the fic is set in the present day! You can play around with just how much contact Luke and the boys can make with humans, but I don't want never-dies fic or human-again fic, please. :)
GEN: Maybe more ghost shenanigans with the band? Now that they're not in any immediate danger from Caleb, what other situations do they get into? I would also love to see the aftermath, now that Bobby has realized that the boys are alive and ghostly. Does Bobby confront Luke? Do they get more revenge on him? Or of course, if you'd like to focus more on Luke's past, before he died, you're more than welcome to do so too. Why did his relationship with his parents deteriorate so much? How did the guys in the band help him through it? What regrets did his parents carry after he'd passed away?
LUKE/JULIE: I'd love to see more of him and Julie trying to figure out what they have between them, and how they try to navigate that. Especially now that it seems like the boys are kind of straddling the line between the real and the ghost worlds a bit more! I really love romance where one of them is a ghost and the other is alive and the drama that comes from them not being sure if they can ever really be together, so if you want to lean into that, I would be thrilled! Can Luke and Julie touch each other now, in certain circumstances? What's it like for them to navigate trying to date when only one of them is alive? Does Luke take her on a date? Does she try and introduce him to her dad? How do they navigate attempting to be intimate?
LUKE/REGGIE: That moment where Luke tries to have chemistry with Reggie when they're singing, and Reggie gets flustered? Yes please! I'm sure this is a very unoriginal prompt, but the heart wants what it wants. What if that moment planted some ideas in Reggie's mind? After all, the two of them are alone a lot while Alex is off with Willie. Does Reggie try and get them into more situations where Luke flirts with him? Or did Luke like the way Reggie got flustered and tries to make those reactions happen more often?
LUKE/ALEX: I sort of got the vibe at the very beginning of the series that Alex had a crush on Luke before they died. Does Luke know that Alex likes him? How does he handle that? What if the two of them did a little experimenting together, back when they were alive? How did that make each of them feel, and what's it like now that they're back as ghosts? Does Luke feel jealous seeing Alex with Willie?
LUKE/CALEB: Caleb's hold over the boys is so iddy and interesting, too. I love the way he sort of lured them in with all these wonderful promises and this fantastic world before the other shoe dropped and his manipulative nature was revealed. Cheyenne Jackson just knows how to play smarmy and creepy so well, and he really leaned into the badtouch with those boys! I am here for it! His interest in Luke in particular definitely had me intrigued. Why is he most interested in Luke out of all the boys? Was there something else he might want from him, other than to have him play in his band? If they did join his band, what would Caleb ask of them next? Or how does Caleb punish Luke and the boys now that they've seemingly escaped his hold? (Basically, if you would like to write dub-con dirtybadwrong Caleb/Luke, yes please.)
Mamma Mia! (Movies)
Donna Sheridan - I love everything about Mamma Mia! And honestly, I love everything about Donna Sheridan. The sequel film really filled her in as a character for me, and god, do I love that 1970s backstory. Young Donna is captivating and real and charming, and I completely understand why three men would all fall for her at once. Filling in more of her life when she was younger would be amazing - her friendships with Rosie and Tanya, her romances with the men - or showing us more of her life with Sophie as she's growing up would be great as well. I just want all the Donna!
The Mamma Mia! universe is just so fun. I adore the 2008 movie (and the stage show), but Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again just took the cake for me. Donna in the 1970s was just everything. And the young versions of Harry, Bill, and Sam - and Rosie and Tanya! - were delightful. Even though those flashbacks played it a little fast and loose with canon details, it provided absolutely wonderful and heartfelt backstory for the characters I already knew and loved. How could I have asked for anything more?! I was so, so charmed by Young Donna and her life and adventures, and would especially love anything revolving around her set during that time period.
So please, if you're at all so inclined, do so in fic form! That movie just made me want to see more of Young Donna and her life! I ship Donna/Bill, Donna/Sam, and Donna/Harry, and would be just as happy to see some friendship fic with her, Rosie and Tanya, or some mother-daughter fic with Sophie!
GEN: What was Donna's relationship with her mother like when she was growing up? We got snippets of detail here and there about how complicated it could be, and I'd love to see that and how it shapes Donna's decision-making through her life. Or her friendships with Tanya and Rosie! Did the three of them meet at university? Was there an event that cemented their best-friends-forever status? What gave them the idea to start the Dynamos? I'd also love to see more of Donna's pregnancy, or what it was like to have a young baby girl while she's trying to fix up the house on the island and transform it into a hotel. I really love Meryl Streep's Donna, too, and if you'd like to write about her as an adult, you can! Maybe matchmaking for Sophie (did she set her and Sky up? were there other eligible men on the island that Donna would've preferred she date?), or maybe once she finds out Harry is gay, she plays matchmaker for him! (Fic where Donna doesn't die and Mamma Mia 3 is basically everyone inviting the gay men they know to the island so that it's some kind of Gay Bachelor for Harry? Yes please!)
DONNA/HARRY, DONNA/BILL, or DONNA/SAM: I love the different dynamic she has with each guy! I'd love to see more than the snippets of the times she meets them all. (For the record, I think of her as Harry's one-woman exception!) Show me more of Donna's day in Paris with Harry. Show me more of Donna's boat adventures with Bill. Show me more of Donna falling in love with Sam. What was the sex like with each of them? How were they different and how did they make her feel? Did she ever think of them as the years went by? Did she ever see any of them over the years? What about three times she almost ran into each one of the potential dads before Sophie's wedding?
The Boys In The Band (2020)
Hank, Larry - This movie was both intense and entertaining, and I was captivated by the whole thing! My favourite part was definitely the relationship between Hank and Larry, these two men who are struggling with how to be together and still be happy. Hank is so in love and has given up so much, and Larry just comes across so scared to let him in all the way. I would love to see more of the two of them - their beginnings, more of the struggles of their domestic life and their fights, or what happens to them after the film and how they find their happy ending!
I really enjoyed this movie!! I love a lot of these actors, and found the whole thing compelling - equal parts funny and heartbreaking. I love canons that walk that line well like this. More than anything, though, I loved the romance and angst between Hank and Larry. I thought they were such an interesting pairing - a man who seems to have been used to monogamy his whole life, and a man who doesn't seem to be able to stomach having just one partner. They have such good chemistry, and all the little offhand remarks they make to and about each other - it's clear that they know each other incredibly well, even when they're snipping at each other. It felt so clear to me that Larry really loves Hank, and that scares the shit out of him. That phone scene was incredibly powerful, on both ends. Two men fighting and shouting their love for each other in the same scene? Yes please!
They have this intensity and passion that I would love captured in fic! You're welcome to write infidelity and period-appropriate homophobia into this fic and pairing, since both those things are canon-appropriate. You can write as much angst as you want for these two - just please don't break them up for good at the end of the story! And of course, feel free to write in any of the other friends (and leaning into/including the history between Larry and Donald is welcome, too)!
GEN: Honestly, I don't have a whole lot in the gen category for this one, given that this is a canon couple! But if you'd like to write more parties with this group of friends, with more drama between Hank and Larry (maybe they've broken up but are still both hanging out in the friend group?), you're welcome to!
HANK/LARRY: God, I just want so much more of these two. The movie said they met at a party - what was that meeting like, given that Hank's wife was there? Did Hank realize his attraction right away? Did Larry pursue him and wear him down? (Dub-con is cool for me with this pairing, by the way!) The courtship and the build-up to Hank deciding to leave his wife for Larry is something I'd love to see - I have to imagine that was really intense. I'd also be happy to see more of their domestic life, with Larry not always being there because he's often out with other men. Does Hank sit at home and stew? Does he go out and track him down? Their fights are pretty intense in the movie, when others are around - what are they like when they're alone? I see these two as a pair that loves hard and fights hard, so their make-ups have to be intense too. Where do they go from the point they're at by the end of the movie? They've both promised to try harder for the other. What does that look like? Does Larry slip up sometimes? Does Hank invite another man into their bedroom and try and enjoy it for real? Do they settle into some kind of new normal that makes both of them happy? Or, hell, write me what a Christmas for the two of them looks like. How do they navigate it, with Hank having kids? Or send them both on vacation to Fire Island! What kind of temptations are there for Larry? I'd also be interested in seeing them talk about their relationship to third parties - maybe they've had an argument and they're each with one of their friends (Michael? Harold? Emory? Bernard?) venting about the other. What kind of revelations might they each have when they have to put their feelings into words and distill their issues down into one conversation?
And I think that's all I have to say! I sincerely hope you don't find this letter too confusing or restrictive - I wanted to give you as much to work with as possible without being a pain. Hopefully I've done that. Have fun with the prompts and enjoy seeing where they take you! I'm dying for fic in any of these fandoms, so in my eyes, you're already awesome.
