femslashex letter 2013!
Hi there, writer!
This is so exciting for me! I love fic exchanges, and this is my first experience participating in one centered around femslash. I think that it's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm really excited about the whole thing. I requested twelve pairings in five different fandoms, and would honestly be thrilled to get a story for any one of them. So if we happened to match on one, but you're feeling inspired by any of the others, go for it. I really do want you to enjoy what you're writing! (This letter is going to be long - I'm sorry! I ramble. I wanted to give you as much information/as many different ideas as possible! Hopefully you don't find it too restrictive. Go with your gut and I know I'm going to love what you come up with!)
I'm totally on board with angst, fluff, humour, romance, and smut fic - if my prompts are leaning you in any particular direction, run with it and have fun. I don't have any sort of specific, you-must-write-me-this fic in mind for any of the pairings, moreso just general ideas of what I like about each pairing's dynamic and thoughts on what would be cool to see in a story. If you hate what I've suggested, feel free to come up with something else yourself!
A couple thoughts first. I'm totally happy with any rating - fic could include just longing/pining, or a kiss, or anything more extreme all the way up to explicit sex. If you aren’t comfortable writing explicit material and my prompts for the pairing we matched on lean that way, totally feel free to fade to black or emphasize other parts of the prompt instead. Porn is always welcome but never mandatory!
I'm not normally crazy about infidelity - it just usually isn't my bag and only works for me with certain pairings. Basically, if you're writing Kate/Betty or Piper/Alex, I'm cool with stories involving infidelity. Otherwise, avoiding it (just hand-wave and pretend any canon couples broke up prior to the start of the story) would be much appreciated.
Don't be afraid to mention/include men in the story! They're in the canon, after all, so they're totally game to be used in the fic as well. After all, where would Lauren and Katie be without their best friend Jesse? And mentioning/including past loves is totally fine, too. Honestly, most of the ladies I've requested have had relationships with men in canon - you don't need to worry about pretending those relationships never happened. So long as the women and the pairing is the focus of the fic, I'm totally fine with stuff like male characters or canon pairings in the background.
The only other things I can think of to tell you is that I'm not a fan of songfic (ie stanzas of lyrics interspersed throughout the fic), I vastly prefer fic written in third person, and character bashing is no bueno.

Bomb Girls
Pairings: Betty McRae/Gladys Witham, Kate Andrews/Betty McRae, Vera Burr/Kate Andrews.
I love the world of "Bomb Girls" and the entire wonderful cast of characters - anything that brings Toronto during WWII alive again would be perfect to me.
I absolutely love the Gladys/Betty dynamic - I love the “Princess” moniker Betty has for Gladys, and how Betty went from being dismissive & hostile towards Gladys to understanding and trusting her. They're two girls from very different worlds meaning something to each other, and I'd love fic that explored their differences and the way they come together in spite of them. I love how Gladys tried to help Betty with her dreams of buying a house - maybe a fic with more of that storyline? Anything from a missing scene in canon to fic set past the finale would be wonderful.
As for Betty/Kate, well, I've shipped them literally since the second episode of the show. I loved that the two girls just seemed to need each other, and that a real connection developed between them almost instantly. I loved Betty taking care of Kate. I'd love something extending their dynamic from canon. Maybe something with Kate realizing that her feelings for Betty aren’t like her feelings for, say, Gladys. Maybe her feelings for Betty make her relationship with Ivan so difficult she can't stand it anymore? Seeing these two finally come together would be fantastic.
Kate/Vera is another ship where I love the opposites dynamic that they have - I love how Vera’s so open and proud of her sexuality while Kate’s scared and timid. The episode in Season 2 where Vera helps Kate prepare for her burlesque show was one of my favourites. I'd love to see something with Vera helping Kate become more confident/comfortable with herself (sexually or not)! Watching Kate come into her own has always been something I've really enjoyed about the show, so seeing fic where Vera not only helps her become comfortable with her body, but become proud... I'd really love that.

For A Good Time, Call
Pairings: Lauren Powell/Katie Steele.
What I love most about Lauren/Katie is how true and easy their friendship was - once they got over their initial differences, they clicked and got along tremendously. They basically were a couple! They’re a great yin and yang: Lauren teaches Katie to be responsible, while Katie helps Lauren loosen up and have fun. The movie danced along the very thin line between being friends, sisters, and lovers, and I'd love to see fic where that line gets crossed for real. Maybe it happens accidentally - maybe one of them accidentally gets off when they’re doing their practice calls and they keep “practicing” to let it keep happening? Or maybe, at the end, one of them means their "I love you" in a much more romantic way than the other one does, and they have to deal with that when it's discovered. Basically, I'll love anything where the heavily-hinted-at subtext in the film is made real!

Orange Is The New Black
Pairings: Nicky Nichols/Alex Vause, Piper Chapman/Alex Vause, Poussey Washington/Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson.
"Orange Is The New Black" has such a diverse cast of characters, and so many of them are fascinating to me. I love how the prison setting emphasizes both everyone's differences and similarities, and I really like how the girls stand up for each other despite their conflicts.
I latched onto Nicky/Alex almost as soon as they had their first scene together. I love how they both have the same intelligent, rough-around-the-edges, realistic views on life; scenes where they just sat and chatted were some of my favourites. I'd love to see more of their banter-y, fun dynamic. Include that in fic where we see them actually developing real feelings for each other that go beyond sex? I'd be thrilled. And any type of "this is what dating's like in prison" fic would be great too!
Although the show gave us lots of Piper/Alex, including flashbacks, I'd love to see more of that. I like how different they appear on the outside, but how similar they wound up becoming. I'm particularly interested in seeing something exploring their past relationship more than we did in canon. Maybe seeing the little moments in which they fell in love and fell apart? If you'd rather write something set in the prison, feel free to include Larry - fic with Piper evaluating her connection to Alex vs her connection to Larry would be great to see, too.
I also really love Poussey/Taystee - even though the show hasn't really gone here (yet?), I always felt a lot of romantic subtext between the two of them. The scene where Poussey thought she didn't get to say goodbye before Taystee was released? So sad. :( Some type of exploration/discovery of feelings between the two of them would be great! Maybe one of them doesn’t see herself as bisexual until now? Or maybe a story exploring their time apart and then their time together again back in prison, and how they've changed? Honestly, anything with their candid, honest way of speaking and their senses of humour will make my day.

Suits
Pairings: Donna Paulsen/Rachel Zane, Jessica Pearson/Rachel Zane.
No matter what Harvey, Mike and Lewis think, it's these three badass ladies that really run the law firm. I love how intelligent they all are and that they get some really great quips, too.
For Donna/Rachel, I really like the way "Suits" shows them having fun together and understanding each other. The scene where the two go out for happy hour and wind up impersonating Harvey and Mike at the bar might be my favourite thing the show's ever done. A world where the two of them are badass lawyers in love, with Harvey and Mike as their secretaries/paralegals? Oh my god, that would be amazing. Or maybe something with them being bffs and bonding over their work/the guys being fails, and watching that dynamic turn into something sexual or romantic? Maybe they have a secret office romance going on, and are trying to hide it from the guys! Anything fun like that would be incredible.
As for Rachel/Jessica, I think it's clear on the show that Jessica sees something in Rachel - there's an intellectual compatibility there, and there's definite respect. Something playing off and elaborating their dynamic in canon would be amazing. There isn't too much to go off in canon, but I think there's enough to get a sense of their relationship! As for fic, maybe something where Jessica takes on more of a mentorship role for Rachel, and Rachel's eager to do well and please her? Watching feelings or a sexual dynamic develop out of that would be fantastic.

Teen Wolf
Pairings: Allison Argent/Erica Reyes, Allison Argent/Lydia Martin, Allison Argent/Kate Argent.
"Teen Wolf" fandom is largely dominated by the men, but there are a lot of awesome ladies that really deserve their due. I love the canon werewolf universe that "Teen Wolf" resides in, so something with these ladies in that universe would be incredible.
The fact that there isn't more Allison/Erica in the world is devastating, if you ask me! I love how Erica sort of flirted with all the girls, and especially the way she flirted with Allison - how it was pretty aggressive and taunting. Both girls are strong and don't seem to be the type to back down easily. A fic with some sort of game of cat and mouse that culminates in resolving sexual frustration would be absolutely incredible. It doesn’t have to be porny! I'd be completely happy with a fade to black with an emphasis on working up to that point. Honestly, any kind of teasing vibe between the two would make for a perfect fic.
The fandom loves Allison/Lydia, and I totally get why - the two of them make up the sort of dream team. They have the brains, the skill, and the beauty that would make up some sort of crazy awesome partnership, and I'd love to see that expanded on! The two of them solving all the problems before the boys even have half of the answers, maybe? Or if you're in the mood to go AU, something where they’re crime solvers/detectives/werewolf hunters in love would be amazing. Basically, I'd really love to see them kicking ass and solving problems... with lots of kisses along the way.
This might be the first time I've ever requested an incest pairing, but here it is: Allison/Kate. I don’t care how wrong it is - I want it! Both of these ladies are brave and bold and have the tendency to be impulsive, which can be really cool to play around with. It was obvious how much Allison worshipped Kate in canon. Fic where we get to see Allison's idolation of cool Aunt Kate would be amazing. Maybe Allison learns about boys from Kate, or maybe Kate takes over Chris's training and teaches her about being a hunter. Whether or not sexual lessons/training are included are up to you - but I’d be totally up for that, let's be real.
