Yuletide 2016!
Hello! I'm so excited about being matched on one of the four canons below - I honestly really love all of them, and can't wait to see what winds up in my inbox come Yuletide morning. :)
Feel free to take the things I've written below and see where they take you! I want you to have fun writing for me, too, after all. Just please don't include my Do Not Wants, and it's all going to be golden.
Also, I'm a rambler, clearly. I tried really hard to keep this concise and bearable, but I just get excited. Sorry in advance for all the text!
Likes & Dislikes
When it comes to types of fic I like, I tend to enjoy canon-set stories; AUs and crossovers aren't usually for me. I enjoy angst, fluff, humour, romance, and smut fic - whatever you're comfortable writing - and any rating, from G to E, is cool too. I also greatly prefer third-person POV!
As for tropes, I'm super into best friends to lovers. I also love "woke up married", secretly dating, fake dating, unrequited love, soulbonding, road trips, codependence, and end of the world. If you're interested in writing smut with any kinks, I like daddy kink, frottage, watersports, pregnancy kink, cock worship, spanking, handcuffs, roleplaying, phone sex, and dirty talk. Both kink and smut are not required, though! Basically, I'd love any of these tropes or kinks for my canons if you can see how they'd fit into the prompts I gave. If they're not for you, then just run with the fandom prompts down below.
I do have a few strong dislikes: pro-ana talk, rape/non-con, mpreg, scat, and bloodplay. I also don't enjoy reading about characters crying, unless they're known to do so in canon. And please, no character bashing, crack fic, or main character death.
Now let's get a little fandom-specific!
Grease: Live
Danny Zuko, Doody - I absolutely loved Grease: Live! I thought they did a fantastic job translating both the movie and the stage show into its own version of the story. And out of the blue, this version of the story - specifically, the "Those Magic Changes" montage - made me incredibly interested in Danny and Doody. Surprise random romantic duet in the middle of the gym??! I don't understand it, but I want more of it. I'm honestly up for anything with the two of them - shippy, friendship, anything in between. I just want to know so much more about their dynamic!
Okay, trust me, I know this is a random combination of characters. But hear me out! I was cautiously optimistic for Grease: Live, and I wound up totally loving it. The cast really impressed me (is this where I proclaim my undying love for Aaron Tveit?), and I just really like that they took the best of the movie and the best of the stage show to combine it into something a little bit different from all the other iterations of Grease. And it's this specific version of Grease that gave us the "Those Magic Changes" duet - which is what put the idea of this unexpected pairing into my head. And now that it's in there, I can't help but want to see it explored!
I like that Grease: Live tried to inject a little bit of humanity into Danny - that they gave him a line about his rough home life, that they let him stick up for Eugene when he was being bullied. When the show aired, I saw a quote that said, "Aaron Tveit saw a tough guy once", which both cracked me up and summed up this version of Danny very well! He's a little kinder, and it's more evident that his "cool guy" facade is just that - a facade. And this version of Doody is a little different, too - he always has his guitar, he's kinder to Frenchie, and he seems to just care about things more than the other T-Birds. He's not putting on a facade at all, I don't think. I think his more open sincerity could maybe break down Danny's facade a bit. Maybe Doody is the only guy Danny feels comfortable being himself around? Basically, I just want that duet moment from "Those Magic Changes" used as a jumping off point - you're free to run with it! Did Danny and Doody become more close after that? Were they secretly always close? Maybe they bonded while commiserating about their relationship troubles? I know the canon is set during the 1950s, so I'm completely fine with a story that includes the likely period-appropriate "oh god I think I might like him more than a friend but oh no I can't be gay what do I do????" panic. Feel free to go as angsty, schmaltzy, romantic, or silly as you like - just please don't end the story on a down note! A happy ending or even just an angsty yet hopeful one would be really wonderful.
Prompts and Suggestions: What if Danny went to Doody to confide in his relationship troubles with Sandy - how would Doody feel about that? What if Danny and Doody secretly have a romantic past? What if Danny starts realizing that Doody is the only person he can truly be himself around? What if Danny and Doody don't see each other at all after high school, but run into each other in the big city a decade later?
Hail, Caesar! (2016)
Carlotta Valdez, Hobie Doyle - I stumbled across this movie a little while ago, and was completely charmed. I love Old Hollywood and the film industry, so unsurprisingly, I thought this movie was delightful! I especially loved Hobie Doyle and his brief but open-ended dynamic with Carlotta. I thought they were so sweet together - I like that he makes her laugh and that they seem to have fun together! I'd love to see more of their story after the movie ends. Show me where their dynamic goes next!
I'm sad that I didn't go see Hail, Caesar! in the theatres! I love all the smaller storylines with the various characters and their different movies - the clever, wry look at the studio system and 1950s fashion was really charming to me! Like I said above, I love Old Hollywood. My favourite character in the film is Hobie Doyle - I think he's so charming and sweet in his earnestness. I love that he might not be a very good actor but that he just tries so hard, you know? I love how much he cares about doing a good job and making people happy. I love that he's innocent, but he's not stupid. I was completely charmed by him, and by his dynamic with Carlotta Valdez!
And that's what I'm hoping to see from Hail, Caesar! fic - more of Hobie and Carlotta! The movie could have easily had Carlotta look down on Hobie, judging him for his accent or his simplicity, thinking that he's stupid. But instead the movie gave us a really adorable pairing with a ton of possibility. I loved seeing them laugh together while Hobie makes lassos out of pasta, and I loved their little impromptu singing duet at their table. They just seemed like a really good match who only got the very beginning of their story. And I'd love to see more of that! What happens to them after the movie ends? He rushes out of their "date" so suddenly, so I'd love to see them running into each other or meeting up the next day. Or you could look a little further into the future - maybe Mannix and the studio has them continue to go out, for the sake of their careers. Maybe they go to one of Carlotta's movies. They would be so good for the fake dating trope! "Dating" for the benefit of the studio, not realizing that they're falling for each other all along? Or maybe they're cast opposite one another in another movie - maybe fans like the pictures of them in the gossip columns and Mannix wants to capitalize on that? Feel free to run with accidental feelings, friends to lovers, fake dating, angst, or whatever works for you with these two! I just want to see where their story might go. (One little request: please don't write out either of their accents phonetically!)
Prompts and Suggestions: How does Carlotta feel the day after Hobie ditches out on their "date"? What happens if the studio wants them to continue "going out" and start a real showmance to help their careers? What happens when Carlotta takes Hobie to one of her movies? What if one of them starts to fall for the other, but the studio decides to arrange a different set of showmances instead?
Neighbors | Bad Neighbours (Movies)
Pete Regazzoli, Teddy Sanders - I really, really enjoy these movies - especially the dynamic between Pete and Teddy! They were great in the first film, but somehow got even better in the sequel. And I'd love more about them! The sequel gave us so much - Pete being revealed as gay, Teddy growing up, and the two of them working through their friendship together as they start their lives as adults. Even though Pete's heading down the aisle at the end of the second film, I love how they're practically in love themselves. I'd love to see fic that works with the new canon that the sequel gave us!
Anyone who knows me knows that the two Neighbors movies are my jam! I really liked the first one - as you can see, I requested it for Yuletide two years ago, and received two amazing fics. And then the sequel came out this year, and so shockingly, the movies have found themselves on my request list yet again. My movie ship, Pete and Teddy, is even more alive and well in the sequel! I love everything about them in this one - Pete being revealed as gay, Teddy growing up and working towards becoming an adult, Pete getting engaged and Teddy having to come to terms with it, Teddy finding a career for himself as a gay men's wedding planner. Seriously, everything about these two in this movie is amazing. I want so much more of them!
I love how deeply the two of them love each other - they are the best of friends, they're brothers, and they both take that so seriously. Please give me more of that bond - and if you ship it, I ship it! Teddy as a wedding planner for gay weddings is just the best thing, so if you want to revolve the fic around that, trust me, I will be thrilled. Teddy happily planning weddings for gay couples, blissfully unaware that he's so popular because all his clients have the hots for him! How does Pete feel about seeing all these men suddenly lusting after his best friend? Or how do Teddy and Pete feel about Teddy planning Pete's wedding? Feel free to run wild with unrequited feelings, jealousy, infidelity if you want, accidental hookups, unknowingly falling in love, and pining - oh, I want so much pining for these two! If you don't want to go with the wedding planner focus, there's plenty of other things to work with. Teddy has such a thing with wanting to feel valued - so maybe Pete gets him naked one day and shows him just how valued he is! Or just more brotastic BFF highlights from their friendship, like when the movie showed them prepping for the poker game near the start of the sequel. You're welcome to include Pete's fiance Darren if you'd like - I'm cool with fic including infidelity, breaking them up, or you're welcome to just handwave him out of existence too. And including other characters like Mac and Kelly, Schoonie and Garf, the sorority girls... all good with me. Run and have fun with it. I just adored Pete and Teddy's storyline in the sequel, and I want so much more!
Prompts and Suggestions: What if Teddy is secretly in love with Pete, and planning the wedding is eating him up inside? What if Pete starts to have second thoughts the closer his wedding date gets? How does Pete feel when he realizes that so many of Teddy's clients want to fuck him? What were the couple of years between the first movie and its sequel like for Teddy and Pete?
Scream (TV)
Audrey Jensen, Emma Duval - I devoured the Scream TV series in a weekend, and had so much fun doing so! I think it handles the slasher genre pretty well, and I like a lot of the characters. And it didn't take long before I started shipping Audrey and Emma! I love how complicated their friendship is - that they have so much troubled history. Plus, they've been to hell and back together. The show confirming that Audrey's anger stemmed from being in love with Emma was exactly what I wanted from these two. And now I just want more!
I've watched the Scream TV series through twice now, and I've had a blast both times. While it isn't perfect, it's the perfect kind of slasher TV show for me - characters I can get invested in, a mystery, intense deaths, some creepy moments, and a good dose of humour and heart. I like the show so much I've also requested it for the Trick or Treat exchange, but don't worry! If I get Scream (TV) fic in both exchanges, I'll be thrilled. For Yuletide, I'm requesting specifically Emma and Audrey. I love their dynamic - I think the two actresses are great together, and their backstory hits all the right buttons for me. Canon is pretty great with these two, but that just makes me want more!
I love how much Audrey and Emma care about each other. When Audrey gets kidnapped, Emma puts herself in danger to save her. When Emma goes off to confront the killer, Audrey grabs a gun to be her backup. They have such a long, rich history, and I cannot explain how thrilled I am that canon revealed that Audrey was in love with Emma. I love that Audrey's love and her hurt is what fueled the entire series, basically! So if you want to take that and run with it, be my guest. Go back into the past and show me Audrey's pain. Give me scenes where Audrey is angry, and jealous, and sad about the two of them not being friends anymore. How does she feel about Emma as the two start to become close again? Do feelings start to resurface? How does she deal with those? And what's it like from Emma's perspective? Does it change or shape the way Emma interacts with Audrey in the future? Or, if you'd rather, jump forward! The end of Season 2 shows us a few months ahead - take us there. What's Audrey and Emma's friendship like now? Is it more than just a friendship? If you want to write something involving the other characters, I'm all for it. Put them in danger again if you want! Maybe Kieran breaks out of prison. Maybe the voice on the phone in the Season 2 finale is after them, too. Maybe Brandon James isn't the one from the 1994 killings that they need to be afraid of! You can go dark and angsty, scary, romantic, fluffy, sexy - whatever works for you with this pairing. I'm just craving more of them! (Also: I will definitely be watching the two-hour Halloween special in October, so you're welcome to use or not use that canon in your fic. It's all good with me.)
Prompts and Suggestions: How did Emma's friendship vanishing shape Audrey into who she is today? What if Emma discovers a few things about her own feelings once Audrey reveals her secret? What if something happens to put one in danger again, and the other has to race to save her life? What would a budding relationship look like between the two girls?
And I think that's all I have to say! I sincerely hope you don't find this letter too confusing or restrictive - I wanted to give you as much to work with as possible without being a pain. Hopefully I've done that. Have fun with the prompts and enjoy seeing where they take you! I'm dying for fic in any of these fandoms, so in my eyes, you're already awesome.
